My Bro!

If you don't know, I am the youngest of a family of four kids. I had two older sisters who both had MD and an older brother. Both sisters (Tammy and Lori) are walking with God in heaven and I would not change that for the world. My brother is a Captain with the SCFD and is walking with God here on earth...I would not change that for the world either. If I can be honest.....by brother is a rebel!! You know I'm right Kip! He is going to do what he is going to do and don't try to change his mind without cause. The problem is he is usually right. He has earned respect as an officer in the firehouse and as a person due to his convictions. He stands up for Jesus. He is a christian, a christ follower an obedient servant of Him. I am proud to be his little brother....just don't tell him is said so....I too have a reputation!! I am proud of my brother. He is an example of what a true believer is to be, how to act, how to stand up for what is right and for how to do the right thing. He has a great family, a wife who loves and respects him, three girls who he will die for and who will give every boy within 100 miles a heartache (keep it up girls) and a proud mom and dad. I love you Kip and am proud to be your brother.
Get to know him by reading his blog....thoughtsfromthecaptainsseat. Keep it up bro!!

First 2010 Deer Hunt

I was finally able to get out this morning for a hunt. It would be the best morning, calm, cold, I didn't need to get up super early and its hunting. We park along the road, finish getting ready,(scent free as much as possible)and make my way to the stand. I placed this stand last year and had not yet been to it, I thought I remembered where it was. Half way to the stand I notice the sight on my bow is, well, not on straight. No problem, I will move it back into place and hopefully only be a little...OFF!, It falls OFF!! Right into my hand! Now what!?! It goes into my pocket and I finish walking....past my stand. CRUNCH, CRUNCH, CRUNCH goes the leaves. Oh brother!!! An Indian I am not...more crunching...OH YEAH!! There it is!!! CRUNCH, CRUNCH, CRUNCH back to my stand that I passed by about 30 yards. Now, I'm sweating...scent free ha! Climb the stand, sight does NOT go back onto bow, deer from 5 miles away know I am in the woods, its colder than expected (due to the profuse sweating from walking and being mad about my sight....both visual and bow sight...that is in my pocket) I see two does in 3 hours not within shooting distance, but, you were at work, its Friday, the leaves are falling like a light rain drizzle, it beautiful, silent, no emergencies or critical events to manage, I just get to watch for deer, listen to the leaves fall, watch the squirrels chase each other and hear the occasional thump from a falling hedge apple. It was still a good hunt and I will definitely be back.
