12 years ago we were in Winfield. We had been married for 6 years and were in the process of building our first home. I was on duty driving in town in Engine 45 when I received a call over the radio indicating that "your wife called and needs you to get home". Now I had a couple of options. Turn the lights and siren on to get home quickly or try to stay calm and return to the station and drive my own truck home. I chose to return to the station but was not able to stay completely calm. In the middle of my work day and in the middle of building our house Kirsten decided it was time to be born!! What timing. Most firefighter wives will tell you that if anything major is going to happen at home or with the kids, their husband will be at the station. We were no different. Kirsten was born beautiful and healthy at 9:30 that evening and we could not be happier. Now, what happened to the last 12 years? We celebrating 12 great years of Kirsten's life with family yesterday and ate some great smoked pork and a cake that Kirsten decorated. Kirsten we love you and pray that you will continue to seek God and be submissive to His leading in your life. We pray that God will lead you to remain pure and that He will continue to protect your eyes, mind and body. Mom and I will hold you accountable and we hold ourselves accountable to helping you along life's journey, together with God's leading we will succeed. Love Dad.
