Training!

Been training at the firehouse for the past several days. SCBA (self contained breathing apparatus) training, search and rescue as well as some disorientation type drills. You work in total darkness, going by feel while trying to communicate with your partner over extremely loud fans. You shout in each other's ear just to hear each other while searching for small items wearing heavy leather gloves. You are blind, communications tough, your sense of touch is numb at best, you get frustrated, nervous, scared of running out of air and your pride tells you "I can beat the first group!" while really wondering if you can. It is a completely safe environment, no heat or fire, no lives to search for, just a battle of your mind and will to be good at what you do without letting your partner down. Not completely unlike a marriage. So what's the key?!?.....Stay calm, focused, use past learned experiences, be willing to learn, speak clearly, remain humble, keep your senses, learn from others, stay alert, be thorough never let your partner down, admit mistakes, pray and let The Chief lead.
